Then the White-faced Heron who was still sleeping on a boat ramp when I arrived at the spot. As the sun slid slowly down the sky, he sparked up and spent at least half an hour preening.

It was unbelievably windy and these Rainbow Lorikeets were having a ball hanging on in the tree tops. These are their true colours, intensified by the late afternoon light.
