These are growing on the property of my Aunt and Uncle, in an old quarry, so there is basically no topsoil. There are saplings so they like it well enough. There are homes in the area, so they are possibly something other than Shore Pine.
The needles look right-bundles of two and slightly twisted, but the cones (that persist on the tree, I found none on the ground) do not seem prickly at all. The keys all mention prickles. What do you think?
