I was determined to clear my big patio table of "stuff'....planted a few things- and put some left-over stuff in trays and elsewhere. Holly--since you asked for Swedish ivy--I finally got to trimming back (totally) my oldest HB of it. It is so miserably root-bound--but is grows big and lush anyway. SO--I started 2-10" HB's with new cuttings --as well as a tray-full of 4" pots. Anyone doing cuttings and making new pots---PLEASE know that--3 cuttings in each finger-hole always make a lush HB or pot. Never stick just ONE cutting in. I have a second, HUGE HB of it growing away. This one is also a few years old-- but I have to let it grow--as --IF I take any more cuttings--I will have to open a shop! 1--Here is the old one I just decimated..Yeah! I KNOW it will grow back... 2--The tray of cuttings--there is 9 cuttings (3 bunches of 3) in wch 4"pot. (The cuttings on the right are Foxgloves...) 3--The chopped up pot--re-growing...Someone can then have it. 4--The one I will have to keep--this one is the other older Swedish ivy HB. Should give this one a hair-cut as well--but I don't want to be stuck with 4o pots of Sw. ivy. G. I am forever baffled WHERE this plant went??? I have NEVER seen it in stores-- at least not this original variety. I know there are now others--but this one, with the shiny leaves, is the "real" one....at least to me. 3--Here's the one I already have.....it is also root-bound, but it doesn't seem to matter... I really do not have room for 2 of these in the house for the winter.... |
