Bird Watching: Baby Chachalacas in backyard, 4 by Fauther

A chachalaca looks in at me like it always does when it wants a treat. This time she's early. I get a wheat bisquit and go out. She's gone. But I call her by clicking my tongue on the roof of my mouth (don't know why it works but it does) and she came flying back to me. I separated the soft bisquit into two halves and dropped it at her feet. I went back inside and after a while I went back outside to freshen the water stations. She was feeding two baby chachalacas! These appear to be a day old. What a treat she gave ME this morning!!
