Insect and Spider Identification: CLOSED: some kind if spider in Auckland New Zealand, 4 by pdurcan

Hi,

It's just hit the middle of summer in NZ and I've been finding a lot of these spider like insects in the house and garden.

The body looks like that of an ant but it has 8 legs and has a leg span of around an inch and half.

I found one in a plastic container when cleaning out a shelf and it was stuck and couldn't climb out so I managed to get a few photos.

Was hoping someone may have ideas as to what it is.
