But my real surprise was seeing a Pipevine Swallowtail (Pictures 1 and 2) and a Palamedes Swallowtail (Pictures 3 and 4)! I don't see the Palamedes very often, usually early in the spring and then not until the fall. You can tell a Palamedes because they have stripes on their body, not spots, plus they have a stripe on the underside of their wing that runs parallel to their body. Melanie |
