I have to laugh when I read about cowpen daisy. I have already pulled out hundreds of volunteers and have some that will be moved or potted up. Each spring I face whether to mulch or let the native annuals take over. Guess which one I usually select? Here are some random shots of volunteers. In no particular order: poppies, CPD, coreopsis tinctoria, coreopsis basilis (love it), carolina phlox, drummond phlox, standing cyprus and several that I simply can't recall. Its a mess but it ends up being lovely.
Oh I forgot R. hirta, thats everywhere.
