Could be something along the lines of a silver colored plant ie. Stachy's b. which has magenta colored flowers but they are thin spikes, just to keep the scene soft... There are also some wonderful soft pinks that are not in your face type colors... There are some wonderful pinks in the Dianthus x Loveliness series too. I would stay away from bright colors or white as they would stick out like a sore thumb....

Pix 2 Dictamnous purpureas I believe this one is albus purpurea, but does have dark pink veining, late spring or E. summer, 30"

Pix 5 on the right is perennial creeping Thyme serpyllum which also blooms all season
