Unfortunately, they aren't exactly tropical, I tried twice to grow them, and as soon as the nights got warm, they went 'toes up'. These are growing in a pot at Milner Gardens in Parksville, BC. I'm convinced they're really a type of dahlia, not a cosmos but . . what do I know?? Second shot is just a lovely little patio at the same garden. I did see some tropicals on my trip, though. There was a spot called 'Butterfly World' with a large greenhouse, c/w a kiwi vine with fruit on it, orchids and lots of other tropicals, not to mention butterflies of course. Even though a lot of the butterflies were tropical species, they really liked the buddleia flowers. Adaptable little fellows, eh?? (oops, there I go sounding Canadian again) |
