Last year the orange one blossomed and made me a happy camper. I even pollinated it and made a cross with a red Scarborough lily. The \"fruits\" are still maturing. This year I waited and waited for the orange one to repeat its show... and then, totally by surprise, a new flower stalk tried to squeeze up from the very center of the fan of leaves. By the time I noticed it, there were a couple of squooshed flowers, but not in any color that I had anticipated. These were a pale cream with a slight peach blush, and no where near the deep orange of its blossoms from the year before! I took photographs... Then, this week the rest of the inflorescence began to open, and almost as if they were on two separate plants, this cluster of blossoms-- on that single stem-- was returning to the original fully orange color! I have had other plants sport like this, but I didn\'t expect it of a Clivia. I am at a loss as to what to do next... I haven\'t tried to pollinate it at all.... as I found that it takes ten years from seed to blossom and I am 82 years old... VBG |
