Hello, I had a pink stellar dogwood planted in my front yard about 6 weeks ago. Just recently I've noticed some leaves are browning and kind of shriveling up at the tips. I then noticed these small white things on the leaves. Another forum identified these as insect eggs and referred me here to help identify what kind of insect these are from. Is it a harmful insect? Is there any chance this insect has anything to do with the leaves tips turning brown or is it just a coincidence?
It was planted by the owner of the nursery I purchased it from and I do water it regularly.
A note, we have had a couple of heat waves here within the past couple months. Maybe in spite of the regular watering, between the transplant and heat could be causing the brown tips?
I just want to be sure it's not being caused by whatever insect these eggs belong too.
I appreciate any information or tips anyone can provide.
Thank you.
