Beginner Gardening: Need some help adding height to timber retaining wall - Pics, 2 by BigHE

In the pictures, the red arrows are where I'd like to add height to the wall. I'd likethe ground to be level with the base of my HVAC unit. The yellow X leads to a path down to the bottom of my property. I am fine with that.

Also, I have a yellow arrow pointing at some green stuff that grows along the ground in the tiered terrace. Does anyone know the name of it?
