I have just read this entire thread. WHEW! I too have experienced some of the problems mentioned above, but they have been transient and appear to be fixed as of this morning. What remains is the common dislike of the white space at the left side

I am chiming in to agree with beclu727's suggestion that the advert column be moved to the right side of the forum columns. This seems to me to have several advantages over the current look.

First of all, for all of us who learned to read English from books, white space to the right feels more "natural" - you start to read at the top left of the page, go to the end of the line of words, move down a line, and continue. Constantly "starting" a line of text in the middle of the screen {page} feels weird.

Secondly, for those with text adjusted to larger sizes, the area that gets "cut off" and has to be scrolled to reach will be the blank area at the right rather than the right hand side of the text column. Even if you have a wide screen monitor and you don't set your browser to full screen the top left of the window is the part which will be "anchored" and any scrolling will be down and towards the right - if the textual part of the window is on the left most people should bee able to see it without scrolling.

I am enclosing two pictures, the first is of the way my screen looks now, and the second is a mock up of how it would look if the columns were swapped over. Please look at the whole picture, not just the thumbnails, to get a real feel for how things change.

Ciao, KK.
