I checked them about a month ago, and nothing. Today I was about to pitch them because there was still no sign of activity at the base of the cuttings, where the new roots were supposed to appear, and I was tired of looking at them (they've been sitting on the kitchen counter all this time). But lo and behold, roots are there on two of the five cuttings, just not where they are supposed to be (that is, the roots are coming out mid-cutting rather than at the base), and there are signs of new growth.

I potted them up -- I'm a little dubious that they'll transition from the dark womb they were in for the last 2 months, but you never know. Stay tuned.
