This is the 4th spring since I planted my epi cuttings. I was getting disheartened, and thinking about tossing the whole bunch of ungrateful plants, since I had never gotten a bloom. They haven't even been taken outside yet. Yesterday, I dragged the garden hose into the basement to water the orchids in the orchidarium, and decided to water the epies as well. They're still fairly healthy in appearance, despite their neglect, they stay in the basement all winter, and I just haven't found the time to take them to the back deck yet.

I was moving one of the shelves that contains the epies closer to the window, now that all of the other tropical plants have been taken outside. I thought I was hallucinating, and went in for a closer look. OMG, I have buds. I was near tears!!!! I may finally see some blooms this year, if the buds don't fall off.

Last year my hylocereus undatus also had a nice bud, and stupid me knocked it off with the garden hose. I will not be going near this epie, this may be my lucky year.

I also missed the 2 blooms on the Echinopsis Antares!!!! That's what happens when I rarely go into the basement at this time of year. When we get back from vacation this week, all of the epies and cacti will be taken outside.
