Alternately, you could drape old sheets over your hoop against wind damage, shade cloth to protect against the burning rays of the sun, and frost blankets if the envelope gets pushed that far.

Use a hoop also to extend your growing season on both ends. You get to start fall/winter veggies earlier, and keep them in longer at the beginning of springtime.
