It's been too hot for too long and I welcome the cooler temperatures for getting jobs done. Your Star of India is lovely, Carolyn. How long have you had it? Dr. Ruppel takes the cake for performance this year. It is now in its sixth bloom cycle. Clearly it loves the extra space and the sunshine, along with more food. Here is a photo taken 7/24. I love the look of it. Photo #2 shows it on 8/17 when the color was totally different. I can only guess the heat affected it. Photo #3 was taken this morning. The Jackmanii at the compost bin always grows much too large so today I cut back about 12' of it - shown in photo #4. It's still tall and still in bloom but I expect the cooler weather will bring many more blooms. |
