prosdokaobasile wrote: Hello Hibiscus lovers!!! Last winter I had two Hibiscus plants that I had overwintered in a bedroom for the winter under fluorescent lights and they bloomed all winter so I decided to give propagation a try. Every time I had a bloom on both plants, I would cross pollinate them. Well I had one pod come out of the whole thing. I was pretty happy about that! On March 18, 2012 I planted them. Well, July 4th I found a baby that had finally decided to poke it's little head out. When I took mommy and daddy outside in the spring, they died so baby is all I have left of them. The parents are Big Box plants, so they weren't near as cool as ya'lls, but as it is, I am a godfather, so I want to raise it and see what I have created. :) I just want to make sure I do it right, so this is where you come in. :) I have posted a pic of each parent so you could see them, and also a pic of the baby. It is still in the seed tray and I need to know exactly what to do. Don't worry about talking to me like I am stupid, because this is a first for me so I need specifics. I promise ya'll won't hurt my feelings! :) Do I need to repot right now or wait? If so, what kind of soil do I need to put it in and what sized pt? I have potting soil, garden soil and cotton-burr compost (super high in Nitrogen). I told you I needed specifics! hehehe. Oh, the baby is outside in part sun (all morning). Thank you in advance and if it survives hell (West Texas) I will definitely post pictures. |
