I lived in Eureka, briefly. Beautiful country, redwoods trees are weeds there. Also very boring, expensive and it takes hours to get anywhere. You have to be very 'self contained'.

Sonoma County is better. Ferndale is a nice area.

I grew up in Minnesota10 miles from Zone 3, according to the USDA. Most years it was zone 3. It wasn't until I was 17 that I realized that Aspen Trees didn't grow everywhere - and that some people in the US never had to shovel snow!
