We brought home several Amador County (CA) reds from a (Marianne's) business visit to UC-Davis back in December 2009. I wasn't aware that this egion of California is well known for Italian varietals, so we had a very pleasant tour around sipping Zinfandel (sometimes aka Primitivo), Barbera, and Sangiovese - amongst others. One of the last stops was at Driven Cellars (where their logo is a set of tire tracks on the bottle and vintage vehicles in the front yard). Nicely done, as was the wine. A bottle of 2005 Driven Cellars Primitivo (Shenandoah Valley, CA) was worth waiting for - it just sang with the short ribs. |
