Insect and Spider Identification: Termites? Or something else?, 2 by mommy_jane

We were walking passed my succulent garden when my 6-year old nephew brought these to my attention. He said that they\'re termites and for the next 10 minutes, I knew more about termites than I really wanted (it was a coincidence too that he just borrowed a book about termites last Wednesday from his school library!). He\'s been into bugs and insects since he can walk so a big part of me believed him. I looked up pictures of termites online, which he suggested I should do, but I couldn\'t find exactly like this to verify. Can anyone help me identify what these things are and why they would possibly be in my garden? And what do I do with them?
