Weather didn't cooperate but did see lots of Monarchs at Millwood lake which is famous for swamps, big bass and gators. The Monarchs were nectaring a water based yellow flowers (coreopsis ?). These flowers were everywhere within the lake and islands. The spring floods had the lake 20 feet above normal so spooky looking debris huts were left on the cypress trees when the water receded. Only a few butterfly species and damsel flies were seen but we had a great time out in nature anyway. |
