I tried really hard to get a picture of this spider. There was an Orb web in front of this planter for several days before I encountered the spider, so I think it's an orb spider. This is a brown spider about the size of a nickle. It blends right into the dirt. If you look at the center of the picture, there's a strip of dried blade leaf going from the upper left corner down into the center of the picture. There's a pod below the gold blade leaf that's a triangle pointing to the center of the picture. Within almost center are three pieces of mulch making a triangle. The spider is in the triangle in the shade below the gold leaf blade in the picture. You can make out the front of the body and a couple of it's legs. I hope you can ID this for me. I'm afraid to stick my hand into the planter to dig out the Gloriosa Lily tubers until I know what I'm dealing with. I will wear gloves. |
