In reading other forums and posts, I read one dger amended her soil due to having pine trees nearby. I just built this garden this past spring, I never took into consideration the surrounding trees \9my only concern was find an ideal sunny location, make sure I get lots of soil - the highest quality of soil. Could the pine trees (because of the pine needles dropping on the surface soil of my garden) be affecting the speed at which my cucumber plants are growing? Would anyone recommend amending the soil at this point with anything? (if so.....what???)
Sorry to re post, brand new to this site. I also am only in my second year doing the whole veggie garden thing (and I thoroughly enjoy it, but am lacking the long time gardener knowledge. I am having great luck with my toms, I have plants at 6 feet in height and producing like crazy...just a bit impatient with the slow growth of my cucumbers as well as my maya habeneros.
