Thanks to the live oak, it gets morning sun and then just good light the rest of the day. Some winters, if the temps are really low, it may lose a few leaves...but I mulch well around it and throw a cover over it for extra protection. It is putting up spikes now. I have both the species phaius and a cultivar called Big Charley (that is the tall one) this pic is from a couple or so years ago.
