End of January/beginning of February seems like the freezing weather always comes back. BTW, our garden club had Paul Yura ( Warning Coordination Meteorologist at National Weather Service) speak last fall. If you ever get a chance to hear him, you should. He made the weather so much more interesting because he explained wind currents, El Nino and La Nina, etc. in such a way that we all "got it!" Our speakers usually have about 30-45 minutes. We kept him there over an hour with questions.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only procrastinator when it comes to seeds, Lisa. I'm going out to plant 50 lycoris bulbs I've had since Sept. Is it too late to toss poppy seeds? I've never had any luck with those.

Short notice, but for those of you close to Austin:
(The Garden Club of Austin speaker tomorrow night is Linda Wall. She's going to demonstrate her tips on growing tomatoes and peppers successfully. Linda has a consulting business and also works for The Natural Gardener nursery in Austin. She's taking 45 packets of nine varieties of her own heirloom tomato seeds to share with the group. If you're in the area, you should join us at Zilker). I'm a terrible tomato grower, so I'm looking forward to this.
