I found the pictured chrysalis on a Senna corymbosa today. I was looking for Sulphur larvae but I'm pretty sure this is completely unrelated. I do have quite a bit of Passiflora incarnata growing in the same area. I haven't seen any larvae this year but a lot of the passi leaves are looking pretty chewed up, and I've seen several adult Fritillaries in my yard. I'm guessing this is a Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae), unless there's another common species in NC that feeds on Passiflora?
