I am posting a picture of the lavender-colored bloom. This is a very vigorous cultivar. BUT, you must plant them in full or at least half-day sun in a raised bed (doesn't have to be super-raised, but several inches is needed). They bloom a couple of weeks after Louisiana Iris, but their foliage looks better before it too dies back in late summer. I feed with highly composted manure in Oct and Feb. That's all. No bugs, disease, etc. I'll have more next year. I LOVE this kind of iris and have been adding to my collection; need to make room. These are heeled in so you need to bring plastic bags or pots (I was out of extras) to safely carry them off. I live just outside the loop in Bellaire. Email me and I'll provide directions. I'll be home Saturday morning and all day Sunday. Leslie |
