I grew up on a farm in Nebraska, did not like making a living farming, but learned to enjoy growing plants. I was single when I bought my house. When I went to look at a house I would first look at the size of the lot and the soil. If that was satisfactory I would then look at the house.

I have arthritis in my hips, knees and shoulders so I do not get on my hands and knees to dig in the dirt anymore. Instead I have plastic tables on my back porch and grow things in Styrofoam cups. I have quite a collection of Epiphyllums that I have gotten from other Dave's Gardeners. When I have extra plants I take them to the Senior center and give them to people who want them.

My wife Sue is not much interested in gardening but she tolerates my interest very well.

We have three cats, Negra, Samuel and Reba. Our world revolves around them. At the moment Reba is laying on top of the monitor.
