The day's already hot, and the roads we had to take to go to the doctor's office are under construction, with only one working lane for 15 miles!!! There's no other way to get to that town, but that road. So, for a 15 mile journey, it took us 45 minutes. Again, thank God for a/c and of course Lola stayed home. I don't want LK's heat. But tomorrow, we'll be hitting that dreaded triple digits. The humidity is bad enough! We stepped into a restaurant, and so many customers were hacking or sneezing away. Looks like the season of summer flu has begun. Thanks to the persistent concern of a sistah, I've been taking extra vitamins for 4 months now, to make sure this year won't be a bad one when it comes to colds, flus.. sinuses.. So far, Kel caught the cold twice, and I haven't (touch wood) got that from him. Hope this means my immune system is improving. Oh to be in the South when summer's here. Heat and Hurricanes!!! But apparently, this heat is no stranger to the rest of America, except for Alaska. Let's hope there won't be any forest fires. Wonder how much $$$$ is lost in Colorado. Hi Susan! What are you up to today? LK, I saw Dylan's latest picture on FB. He's absolutely the perfect looking, cutest little fella!! Heather must have a difficult time shopping at stores, with so many strangers stopping her and commenting on Dylan! I would! Marion, how are you dahlin'? Got the perfect recipe for alcohol-free mint julep for you. 6 mint leaves, rinsed 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 c. cold water 3/4 c. lemon juice 4 c. fresca (or any flavor of lemon-lime soda pop) 2 c. ginger ale 1. Place sugar, water and lemon juice in large bowl. Mix until sugar dissolves and add mint leaves. Let sit for 1 hour. Fill a large pitcher with ice and pour sugar, lemon juice mixture over ice. You can discard the mint leaves at this time. Or you could leave them in if you wanted a stronger mint flavor. Add fresca and ginger ale. Serve and enjoy with your favorite JD, and I don't mean Jack Daniels! This message was edited Jun 29, 2012 12:35 PM |
