Someone with connections gave me a bunch of expired Botanical Interest veggie seed from a local source. I've grown daikon before but it's been a really long time. It takes quite a while to get those long roots. If you plant it in fall it stays sweet but if you plant it in spring it can get hot and pithy. My seed went in in September and we started pulling shorter roots about a month ago. It's milder than any typical red radish including the French types. Here is one of two patches of yellow collards. These are the best I've ever grown. |
