What I will do is clean up the bottom of this section, re-cut it if needed, and re-plant it in clean Pro Mix. I wouls also venture to guess that the woody stems on your CC (and others) does not put out too many new growths. It's main job is holding up the rest of the plant.... Here is my oldest CC.
