Most things I have read is to put up whole corn cobs in a location away from your bird feeders. When we saw one squirrel, we took that extra step, but then a couple days later it was gone, so really didn't need to bother. It has turned into a nice rat trap. I didn't know they could climb, but it made it handy for the Cooper's hawk to grab an easy meal.
