DYZZY, it sounds like your culprit is a Sharp-shinned Hawk, I had one in my tree yesterday. They are very good birdie hunters. I love the pic of the Red-belly. I've never actually seen the tongue on one. Here is a pic of a Cooper's Hawk, which is very similar to the Sharp-shinned, except much larger. He had just finished a meal of Grackle. |
