ladydragon5 wrote: Well, ladies I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I will not be having knee replacement surgery in Sept. Oh, I'll be having it, just not in Sept. Instead I will be having a lumpectomy in Sept. Last years mammogram showed something and the 6 month check up made the Dr. nervous and he recommended a biopsy. Last week they did an ultra sound biopsy and it showed a small tumor in the left breast that was cancerous. I'll tell you I was far more worried about the biopsy procedure than the results since I have no history, can't feel a thing and they had a hard time even finding the little sucker, but that went very smoothly without even any pain at all. Of course, the results were a downer! I am scheduled for the lumpectomy on Sept. 2 with 6 weeks of radiation treatments to follow. They will check the lymph nodes also and see if it has progressed that far. If so, they will remove them also. These days they do not take any more tissue than they have to make sure the area is clear of cancer so since this things is small that should mean not much. I was joking with Fairy104 ( my DIL) that since I have always wanted a breast reduction anyway, I could have had that, plus with reconstruction. They take from your tummy and I could have had a tummy tuck for free. I would be all in for that. Of course, I don't think she thought it was a funny as I did. I have told all the kids and the grandkids who are of age and they are all very supportive. I am feeling good, have a positive attitude as always so this should be just one of those little bumps in the road. I went to the fabric store yesterday and bought some fabric for a block exchange and also got some fabric for a fun Halloween quilt I am going to make while I am tied to the house with the radiation treatments. I don't think I am going to making any long trips for a while. I may even have more time to spend with you all here at DG. Sorry I missed seeing some of you at the Reunion but as you can see, life got in the way. I also can't believe that Jonathan will be 1 yr old next month. We are planning a big party for him. He is a doll, crawling all over the place, says "MaMa", eats everything in sight, loves Cheerios, and smiles all the time. He loves to take my glasses off and put them on his head or in his mouth. Here is one of my favorite pictures of Mr.Mr. |
