Gitagal wrote: Holly--- I got my "Plume Flower" at Rawlings as well--just longer ago that you got yours... It is really NOT and attractive plant---tends to be woody and the leaves tend to yellow out. And then--It blooms......:o) You may, or may not, remember that last summer this plant got blown over in a storm and ALL the branches broke off just above the soil. I did not give up on it--and it did re-grow. Now it is blooming.... I do not venture out much in these temps! At this time--it is 1005* here. The "heat index" (??) is 118*. I go outside for 5 minutes and I cannot catch my breath. I drip in no time at all. I have tried watering the most important plants--like my Brugs--but I have to let it be. Ran the sprinkler this AM on my Tomato bed....that's all... How are you doing at Lowes? Are you PT or FT? My hours are seriously cut. Only 10hrs. this week. Been there--seen this--every year. Have to ride through the lean times..... Re your Water Lilies---Did you read JIll's article today? It is more on Lotus--but she may be able to answer some questions for you. You can always try the web Sites of the major Pond suppliers providers. I have never had a pond--but the 1st 5 years I worked at HD--I "owned" the Greenhouse. We had a functioning pond with a waterfall--the biggest attraction to kids in the store. Because we had Goldfish in it... I knew quite a bit about ponds back then--as I had to wait on people that were building one. A bit rusty on all that by now--but I do remember a lot of stuff.... Made a zillion batches of Pesto today. Stripped all my basils of their leaves.... They will re-grow--then I do it all over again.... Stay cool! Gita Close-up of the Brazilian Plume bloom. |
