It was planted as a dug up root the year before-- then dug up again and re-planted the following year. In this picture--it is now into the 3rd spring....I had it buried, shallowly, in some dirt. I do not believe this is necessary--as all the stored energy for new growth is inside the old root. NOTE where the new growths are coming from. Around the are where the old stem dropped off. This root was massive! At least a couple of pounds! |
