Robyn.. well,, thanks for the interest.. the house is made of 2" builders foam.. like from Home Depot or Lowe's... it's 2' x 8 ' pannels that are attached to one another with a spray foam.. the walls sit on the outside of the floor system... 2 x 3 's that sit on the roof covered by the ply floor... no framing in the walls or ceiling.. aside from the ridge beam which is self supporting.. attached to planters on either end.. this holds the roof up.. and holds it down. ... along with the floor... filled with plants whch holds it down also.. it's not bolted or nailed down... but the crack between the floor and roof is foamed together.. to keep air out from below.... the door opening and the door is edged in metal .. just to attach the hinges and hardware to..
it's broken down in the spring and the foam is cut up and used in other projects.. planters and garden fixtures.. and a pond last year... the house is painted but if it was used as a year round building.. it's covered in a plastic stucco.. the foam and stucco is the covering for alot of building now... it's how they make nyc and vennice out in Vegas. and lots and lots of tuscony looking villas. through out the country. and sheithing for piles of brick buldings.. transformng them into new concrete structures... the detail the planter sits on in the first photo.. is all foam with the stucco covering.. as is most everything you see in this photo here.. built 15 years ago with last years foam bulding..
it keeps the temperature within 2 degrees of the settng.. day or night throughout the winter with a small electric heater set to a no freeze setting.. whch is about 45* F..
it has a light on a timmer.. till spring.. when I cut holes in the roof.. covered wth acrylic plastic.. whch kicks them into growing mode
