MargaretK wrote: Great shots, everyone. Nanny, you see such a diverse range of birds. I'd so love to see a Pileated. Thanks for a colourful start, Mrs Ed. The finch in the maple is gorgeous. And speaking of birds I'd love to see, I love to see any Waxwings. Love your Bohemians, Burn. Even the name is a treat. Hack, nice shots. Your male Cardinal sure does look cold. Duc, as if your Bald Eagle shots weren't fabulous enough, you come along with that shot of the Red-tailed Hawk which has blown me out of the water. A couple of shots of Carnaby's Black Cockatoos silhouetted in the big gum tree in our backyard yesterday morning. These big, beautiful birds gladden and sadden the heart at the same time. They are so beautiful and yet I'm always so aware of the dire threat they're under due habitat destruction. One of the last vestiges of virgin bushland that has been home to them forever has just been given the go ahead for urban development. So dreadfully sad. In this first shot, they're doing what parrots, galahs and cockatoos do all the time - preen and gently talk to each other. |
