evelyn_inthegarden wrote: Ok, regarding the discussion of DVRs....I was referring to ones that can be purchased without a requirement of *any* type of monthly fee, which would include a satellite, cable or Tivo. We have an antenna, and that is all. No monthly fee. We are 2 seniors living on our monthly allowances. We do not have cable service in our area as well as high-speed internet, but we can live without them. Both DISH and Direct-TV compete up here for people's wallets as well as an independant or two. (If you buy a TIVO DVR, you must pay them a monthly fee.) So we will stick to our budget-concious ways for now. (And probably for later as well...LOL!!) I could not believe that Amazon was selling the DVR used that is the same model that I currently own for over $500. as I paid a little ove $200.00 for it. Then I saw the Magnavox DVR brand new for $227.00! It was an upgrade from the Philips I now own, which works great and I have never had a bit of problem with it. I can record more than enough to watch, in fact I have to cut out programs or just erase them as I do not have time to watch them all. What will happen when I get more than 2 channels to watch, LOL?? The fellow in the Best Buy said they don't sell DVR's to the public, just to satellite and cable companies. I am like Sharon, as I am spoiled now and have little patience for watching commercials. OK, I won't say any more about it, since this is a propagation forum. I did ask if anyone is starting any new plants from seeds or cuttings this fall. Dave is, anyone else? I won't until I get back from my trip, of which I am leaving on the 14th. JB ~ Yes, the privets are very fast growers. I hope your put them in their separate pots. I planted the willows. One is doing great and one is not doing as well...we'll see. Sharon ~ Look in your mailbox next week. Mostly seeds and one surprise. Oh guess what?? It actually rained last night and part of this morning!! Whoopee!! I thought it smelled like rain, but when the ground was actually wet I was really happy! I spent the day with my middle granddaughter (age 26) shopping. She agreed to help me pick out some clothes for my trip. And I did not have to worry about having to water the plants when I got home...an added bonus! Sleep well, everyone. Gypsy pepper.... |
