SusanLouise wrote: Yep! We had a Rufous...well, since it wasn't capture to say 100%...it has been ID'd as "likely" a Rufous. If it was captured by our state certified bander (of various other birds) to rule out it being an Allen's, then it can be said as 100% Rufous. Unfortunately, the hummer was too smart to get caught in the net the bander had set up in our backyard. Oh well... It will be added to the Nebraska Ornithologist's Union records for the state as a Selasphorus, a "likely" Rufous. How exciting!!! Anyway, it was here from about 11am on the 28th-30th (today at 7am...it's last feeding). We also had a mature male Rt pass through here on the 24th already too. Sorry for being away so long...just been sooooooooooooo busy. I have so many pics of birds and butterflies to look through. I just put in folders on the pute desktop daily. Well, it will keep me busy catching up later this fall/winter when i get bored :) Here's 2 pics of our Rufous... |
