Every year a couple of Sparrows nest right outside our front door in the column. Every year they have to rebuild their nests due to humans (not us) or crows. Every year they realize I'm not going to hurt them when I wait for them to feed their babies before opening doors or walking up the stairs.

Our birding started last winter/spring. It began with a seed feeder my neighbor gave us. Then next came the 3 tube seed feeder and the hummingbird feeder. Now we have a new simply feeder, two suet blocks and a better (easier to clean) hummingbird feeder with a planter full of nectar flowers.

The bird visitors have increased and are now varied. We started with a couple House Sparrows, including the ones that were nesting.

This is my list of what we have visiting now:
House Sparrows
House Finches (I love the males colorings!)
Purple Finches (I believe we have two males visiting because their coloring is different than the House's red)
Towhees
Flickers
Steller Jays (and their babies!!)
Chickadees (and their babies!! Added pictures of two babies trying to mooch off an adult)
Junco
Orioles
A parrot (that one seriously threw me off!!)
Gold Finch
Robin youngsters
1 crow ... who is now traumatized by the sight of my small girl cat running face first into the window.

Annas Hummingbird
Rufous Hummingbird
Black Chinned Hummingbird

And some new visitors I haven't been able to identify because my son has misplaced my guide book to Washington birds. There are several different species too.
