Bamasharon, the first looks like a daylily. i wouldn't even begin to try guessing which one, but you can show it to the folks in the daylily forum. daylily and lilies(lilium) are two entirely different plant species. i like daylilies but i looooooooooooooooooove lilium. a daylily is a rhizome and a lilium is a bulb. the foliage is very different too.
the second picture looks like the orange one is an asiatic lily, the one below it looks like a stargazer oriental lily. in my experience stargazer is an early bloomer. i bet your orange asiatic is a late bloomer, thus they are over lapping. you can try to i.d. it through a google search, or going to bulb catalogue sites, or infor sights like the lily society.
good luck.
well cici you are doing the right thing by planting your bushes and vines first, that is for sure. when i started gardening, i'll be in my 5th season this year (hard to believe- seems like i was just posting my first newbie questions here not long ago) i'm learning though as i go along and the one thing i love about gardening is that it is always a work in progress.

thank you all for the smiles this morning. does my heart good.

who mentioned trying the dwarfs in pots this year.?? i tried asiatic lolypop in a container and it didn't do that well, but now i've come to understand that they dislike direct afternoon sun and that was probably why i got on 5 out of 6 stems, and only 1 bloom. :-(

also, i found out where i had seen the list of the order that lilium blossom in cooler climates.

1st the asiatic in june with a vast array of colors
1 1/2 the asiapets that mix asiatics and trumpet lilies.
2nd the trumpets and aurelians in july start to perfume the air
3rd the orienpet's blossom through july and into august
4th and last but not least is the orientals in late july and august.
the last species lily to blossom is lilium speciosum var. rubrum.

hope everyone had a nice valentines day. debi z & franklin
