GP, that's an amazing shot of all those crows in the tree. I counted 70. The Grackles have the most fantastic iridescence.

Elphaba, congratulations on being selected for the backyard bird count gallery. Well deserved. Nice shots.

Charlie, fabulous photo of the Red-bellied Woodpecker. The Cardinals are always stunningly beautiful.

Wild Rose, both shots of the gulls are beautiful, but that close up is razor sharp.

jhowdy; the owl and the inflight shot of the hawk are wonderful.

Pelle, just how did you get the Red-bellied to pose like that? Good shot. Still looks a bit chilly there.

Nanny, you're getting some really good shots. Love the Sapsucker and the Carolina Wren.

duc, how funny about the turkeys. and you were blaming the poor little squirrels. I really covet that camera of yours.

Lily, I so hope you get to see and photograph the HUGE Belted Kingfisher. Glad you have the Bluebirds.

Good shots, Hack. You sure get a variety of birds. Good info on the remote release. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and invest in a good tripod and I'll get a remote release at the same time. Nice lighting on the Robin.

Red, your little Lincoln's Sparrow is really good.

Nice shots, Burd. It must be amazing to see such large flocks flying overhead.

A kazillion Goldfinch, eh, Rose? I've told you a hundred million times not to exaggerate! Beautiful shots. The Tufted Titmice really are heart melters.

Thanks all for your generous comments and the warm welcome. I still have nothing new, so thought I'd post an Osprey pic from just a couple of weeks after I got my camera back in 2008. This osprey is not one of the regulars, but it used to get into a particular tree on the other side of the river and was not the least bit bothered by my presence.
