I do harvest it first, but only lightly - stew some up, maybe make a pie - then let it go. The only problem I have is with slugs, but they stick mainly to the lower leaves. Just the other day I had my son dig out one of my two plants from the herb garden (to make room for strawberries), which I plan to split into 4-5 chunks and transplant to my pond area. I think they will make a nice statement.
