If I recall correctly, the city actually hired a cargo plane to foribly migrate part of the flock one year! Whenever I think of this I have a rather humorous image of a Northwest 747 leaving the airport with a goose belted in at each window. For some reason, I find this quite amusing. Anyhow, I do agree that they are beautiful, and I feel lucky to be able to go down to the park and watch what I call 'goose practice" -- as far as I can tell they are practicing water landings and takeoffs as a flock. It's quite a site! (picture below) |
