They did give a very large Palm tree to a neighbor a few years ago when they were changing out some landscaping and having a circular driveway put in, but most of the time they just dig up plants and put them in trash bags and out to the curb with the garbage! I told my BIL that I wanted at least one of those Aechmea's when they did decided to dig them up but I have a feeling they are long gone! I took this picture Christmas 2008 and they still looked like this when we were there in March last year. I wish they had decided to get rid of them when we were visiting last spring, I would have put one in the back of my husbands truck and brought it home. They won't survive in ground during our winters so it would have to go in a container.
