Hi All! I've been super busy and haven't had time to post in a long while, but I had some growth in my greenhouse that I thought I would show off today. It's my new variegated banana. I had purchased four AeAe's this past summer and managed to kill them all. My only consolation is that I know of expert gardeners here who have experienced the same thing with this plant.

My good friend told me that the trick is to plant them in mostly all Perlite or half potting soil and half Perlite and water only when you see growth after the intial planting. Well, I bought several more variegated bananas, including some Thai ones, and so far, none of them have rotted yet. They are in my greenhouse, where it is very warm in the daytime but cool at night. All my other bananas are outside in the ground and doing great and still showing some growth this winter. A few of the young ones have some yellow and brown leaves, but I think they will eventually recover from that cold damage.
