SO! Today was the first of the season visit from a Northern Flicker (yellow shafted). My word, I'm not sure if it's been a while since I had seen one of these or this one is a hefty specimen, but just seemed like a HUGE bird to me.

Here it had gotten a big chunk off the suet.
