But last year a "snowbird" a dark eyed Junco lost his life. When they knock themselves so silly that they just sit in your hand for so long, it makes me wonder how they are later on.

That Downy hit so hard that I got to hold him for a good 30 minutes. I thought he had broken his neck when I picked him up, he was so limp. But he seemed to recover and fly away. :-)
